They will not be gathered or buried; they will be as dung on the face of the ground. (nasb) ======= Jeremiah 8:3 ============ Jer 8:3 And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of hosts.(KJV) Jeremiah 8:3 And death shall bee desired rather then life of all the residue that remaineth of this wicked familie, which remaine in all the places where I haue scattered them, sayeth the Lorde of hostes.(Geneva) Jérémie 8:3 La mort sera préférable à la vie pour tous ceux qui resteront de cette race méchante, dans tous les lieux où je les aurai chassés, dit l'Eternel des armées.(FR) 3 ׃8 וְנִבְחַ֥ר מָ֙וֶת֙ מֵֽחַיִּ֔ים לְכֹ֗ל הַשְּׁאֵרִית֙ הַנִּשְׁאָרִ֔ים מִן־הַמִּשְׁפָּחָ֥ה הָֽרָעָ֖ה הַזֹּ֑את בְּכָל־הַמְּקֹמ֤וֹת הַנִּשְׁאָרִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִדַּחְתִּ֣ים שָׁ֔ם נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃ ס Jeremiah Jer 8:3 And death will be chosen rather than life by all the remnant that remains of this evil family, that remains in all the places to which I have driven them," declares the Lord of hosts. Does one turn away and not repent? (nasb) ======= Jeremiah 8:5 ============ Jer 8:5 Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.(KJV) Jeremiah 8:5 Wherefore is this people of Ierusalem turned backe by a perpetuall rebellion? they gaue themselues to deceit, and would not returne.(Geneva) Jérémie 8:5 Pourquoi donc ce peuple de Jérusalem s'abandonne-t-il A de perpétuels égarements? Ils persistent dans la tromperie, Ils refusent de se convertir.(FR) 5 ׃8 מַדּ֨וּעַ שׁוֹבְבָ֜ה הָעָ֥ם הַזֶּ֛ה יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם מְשֻׁבָ֣ה נִצַּ֑חַת הֶחֱזִ֙יקוּ֙ בַּתַּרְמִ֔ית מֵאֲנ֖וּ לָשֽׁוּב׃ Jeremiah Jer 8:5 "Why then has this people, Jerusalem, Turned away in continual apostasy? They hold fast to deceit, They refuse to return. 'Everyone turned to his course, Like a horse charging into the battle. (nasb) ======= Jeremiah 8:7 ============ Jer 8:7 Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD.(KJV) Jeremiah 8:7 Euen the storke in the aire knoweth her appointed times, and the turtle and the crane and the swallowe obserue the time of their comming, but my people knoweth not the iudgement of the Lorde.(Geneva) Jérémie 8:7 Même la cigogne connaît dans les cieux sa saison; La tourterelle, l'hirondelle et la grue Observent le temps de leur arrivée; Mais mon peuple ne connaît pas la loi de l'Eternel.(FR) 7 ׃8 גַּם־חֲסִידָ֣ה בַשָּׁמַ֗יִם יָֽדְעָה֙ מֽוֹעֲדֶ֔יהָ וְתֹ֤ר *וסוס **וְסִיס֙ וְעָג֔[t]וּר שָׁמְר֖וּ אֶת־עֵ֣ת בֹּאָ֑נָה וְעַמִּ֕י לֹ֣א יָֽדְע֔וּ אֵ֖ת מִשְׁפַּ֥ט יְהוָֽה׃ Jeremiah Jer 8:7 "Even the stork in the sky Knows her seasons; And the turtledove and the swift and the thrush Observe the time of their migration; But My people do not know The ordinance of the Lord. (nasb) ======= Jeremiah 8:8 ============ Jer 8:8 How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain.(KJV) Jeremiah 8:8 Howe doe yee say, Wee are wise, and the Lawe of the Lorde is with vs? Loe, certeinly in vaine made hee it, the penne of the scribes is in vaine.(Geneva) Jérémie 8:8 Comment pouvez-vous dire: Nous sommes sages, La loi de l'Eternel est avec nous? C'est bien en vain que s'est mise à l'oeuvre La plume mensongère des scribes.(FR) 8 ׃8 אֵיכָ֤ה תֹֽאמְרוּ֙ חֲכָמִ֣ים אֲנַ֔חְנוּ וְתוֹרַ֥ת יְהוָ֖ה אִתָּ֑נוּ אָכֵן֙ הִנֵּ֣ה לַשֶּׁ֣קֶר עָשָׂ֔ה עֵ֖ט שֶׁ֥קֶר סֹפְרִֽים׃ Jeremiah Jer 8:8 "How can you say, 'We are wise, And the law of the Lord is with us'? But behold, the lying pen of the scribes Has made it into a lie. (nasb) ======= Jeremiah 8:9 ============ Jer 8:9 The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them?(KJV) Jeremiah 8:9 The wise men are ashamed: they are afraid and taken. loe, they haue reiected the word of the Lorde, and what wisdome is in them?(Geneva) Jérémie 8:9 Les sages sont confondus, Ils sont consternés, ils sont pris; Voici, ils ont méprisé la parole de l'Eternel, Et quelle sagesse ont-ils?(FR) 9 ׃8 הֹבִ֣ישׁוּ חֲכָמִ֔ים חַ֖תּוּ וַיִּלָּכֵ֑דוּ הִנֵּ֤ה בִדְבַר־יְהוָה֙ מָאָ֔סוּ וְחָכְמַֽת־מֶ֖ה לָהֶֽם׃ ס Jeremiah Jer 8:9 "The wise men are put to shame, They are dismayed and caught; Behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord, And what kind of wisdom do they have? (nasb) ======= Jeremiah 8:10 ============ Jer 8:10 Therefore will I give their wives unto others, and their fields to them that shall inherit them: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.(KJV) Jeremiah 8:10 Therefore will I giue their wiues vnto others, and their fieldes to them that shall possesse them: for euery one from the least euen vnto the greatest is giuen to couetousnesse, and from the Prophet euen vnto the Priest, euery one dealeth falsely.(Geneva) Jérémie 8:10 C'est pourquoi je donnerai leurs femmes à d'autres, Et leurs champs à ceux qui les déposséderont. They certainly were not ashamed, And they did not know how to blush; Therefore they shall fall among those who fall; At the time of their punishment they shall be brought down," Says the Lord. Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the fortified cities And let us perish there, Because the Lord our God has doomed us And given us poisoned water to drink, For we have sinned against the Lord. The cry of the daughter of my people from a distant land:" Is the Lord not in Zion? Is her King not within her?"
