Today's Date: אַל־תַּכִּירוּ פָנִים אַחַי בֶּאֱמוּנַת יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ אֲדֹנֵינוּ אֲדוֹן הַכָּבוֹד׃ א James Jas 2:1 My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. (nasb) ======= James 2:2 ============ Jam 2:2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;(KJV) James 2:2 For if there come into your copany a man with a golde ring, and in goodly apparell, and there come in also a poore man in vile raiment,(Geneva) Jacques 2:2 Supposez, en effet, qu'il entre dans votre assemblée un homme avec un anneau d'or et un habit magnifique, et qu'il y entre aussi un pauvre misérablement vêtu;(FR) כִּי אִם־יָבֹא אִישׁ אֶל־בֵּית הַכְּנֵסֶת לָכֶם הָדוּר בְּטַבְּעוֹת זָהָב וְלָבוּשׁ מַחֲלָצוֹת וּבָא שָׁם גַּם־עָנִי בִּבְגָדִים צוֹאִים׃ ב James Jas 2:2 For if a man comes into your assembly with a gold ring and dressed in fine clothes, and there also comes in a poor man in dirty clothes, (nasb) ======= James 2:3 ============ Jam 2:3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:(KJV) James 2:3 And ye haue a respect to him that weareth the gaie clothing; and say vnto him, Sit thou here in a goodly place, and say vnto the poore, Stand thou there, or sit here vnder my footestoole,(Geneva) Jacques 2:3 si, tournant vos regards vers celui qui porte l'habit magnifique, vous lui dites: Toi, assieds-toi ici à cette place d'honneur! et si vous dites au pauvre: Toi, tiens-toi là debout! ou bien: Assieds-toi au-dessous de mon marchepied!(FR) וּפְנִיתֶם אֶל־הַלָּבוּשׁ מַחֲלָצוֹת לֵאמֹר שְׁבָה־נָּא פֹה בְּמוֹשָׁב נִכְבָּד וְאֶל־הֶעָנִי תֹאמְרוּן אַתָּה עֲמֹד שָׁם אוֹ שֵׁב לַהֲדֹם רַגְלָי׃ ג James Jas 2:3 and you pay special attention to the one who is wearing the fine clothes, and say, "You sit here in a good place," and you say to the poor man, "You stand over there, or sit down by my footstool,"(nasb) ======= James 2:4 ============ Jam 2:4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?(KJV) James 2:4 Are yee not partiall in your selues, and are become iudges of euill thoughts?(Geneva) Jacques 2:4 ne faites-vous pas en vous-mêmes une distinction, et ne jugez-vous pas sous l'inspiration de pensées mauvaises?(FR) הַאִם לֹא לֵב וָלֵב בְּקִרְבְּכֶם וְאִם לֹא כְשֹׁפְטִים חֹרְשֵׁי רַע אַתֶּם׃ ד James Jas 2:4 have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil motives? (nasb) ======= James 2:5 ============ Jam 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?(KJV) James 2:5 Hearken my beloued brethren, hath not God chosen the poore of this worlde, that they should be rich in faith, and heires of the kingdome which he promised to them that loue him?(Geneva) Jacques 2:5 Ecoutez, mes frères bien-aimés: Dieu n'a-t-il pas choisi les pauvres aux yeux du monde, pour qu'ils soient riches en la foi, et héritiers du royaume qu'il a promis à ceux qui l'aiment?(FR) שְׁמָעוּנִי אַחַי הַיְקָרִים הֲלֹא אֱלֹהִים בָּחַר בַּעֲנִיֵּי הָאָרֶץ לִהְיוֹת עֲשִׂירֵי אֱמוּנָה וְיֹרְשֵׁי מַלְכוּת כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר לְאֹהֲבָיו׃ ה James Jas 2:5 Listen, my beloved brethren: did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? (nasb) ======= James 2:6 ============ Jam 2:6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?(KJV) James 2:6 But ye haue despised the poore. Doe not the riche oppresse you by tyrannie, and doe not they drawe you before the iudgement seates?(Geneva) Jacques 2:6 Et vous, vous avilissez le pauvre! Ne sont-ce pas les riches qui vous oppriment, et qui vous traînent devant les tribunaux?(FR) וְאַתֶּם הוֹבַשְׁתֶּם פְּנֵי הֶעָנִי הֲלֹא הָעֲשִׁירִים הֵם יַעַשְׁקוּן וְיִסְחֲבוּן אֶתְכֶם לִמְקוֹם הַמִּשְׁפָּט׃ ו James Jas 2:6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Is it not the rich who oppress you and personally drag you into court? (nasb) ======= James 2:7 ============ Jam 2:7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?(KJV) James 2:7 Doe nor they blaspheme the worthie Name after which yee be named?(Geneva) Jacques 2:7 Ne sont-ce pas eux qui outragent le beau nom que vous portez?(FR) וְגַם הַשֵּׁם הַטּוֹב אֲשֶׁר נִקְרָא עֲלֵיכֶם יָשִׂימוּ אֹתוֹ לַחֲרָפוֹת׃ ז James Jas 2:7 Do they not blaspheme the fair name by which you have been called? Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.(KJV) James 2:11 For he that saide, Thou shalt not commit adulterie, saide also, Thou shalt not kill. Nowe though thou doest none adulterie, yet if thou killest, thou art a transgressour of the Lawe.(Geneva) Jacques 2:11 En effet, celui qui a dit: Tu ne commettras point d'adultère, a dit aussi: Tu ne tueras point. Now if you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. (nasb) ======= James 2:14 ============ Jam 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?(KJV) James 2:14 What auaileth it, my brethren, though a man saith he hath faith, when he hath no workes? can that faith saue him?(Geneva) Jacques 2:14 Mes frères, que sert-il à quelqu'un de dire qu'il a la foi, s'il n'a pas les oeuvres? La foi peut-elle le sauver?(FR) אַחַי מַה־יּוֹעִיל לְאִישׁ הָאֹמֵר כִּי אֱמוּנָה בוֹ וּמַעֲשִׂים אֵין לוֹ הֲתוּכַל אֱמוּנָה לְהוֹשִׁיעַ־לוֹ׃ יד James Jas 2:14 What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? (nasb) ======= James 2:15 ============ Jam 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,(KJV) James 2:15 For if a brother or a sister bee naked and destitute of daily foode,(Geneva) Jacques 2:15 Si un frère ou une soeur sont nus et manquent de la nourriture de chaque jour,(FR) אִם אָח אוֹ־אָחוֹת יִהְיוּ עֵירֻמִּים וְאֵין לָהֶם לֶחֶם חֻקָּם׃ טו James Jas 2:15 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, (nasb) ======= James 2:16 ============ Jam 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?(KJV) James 2:16 And one of you say vnto them, Depart in peace: warme your selues, and fil your bellies, notwithstading ye giue them not those things which are needefull to the body, what helpeth it?(Geneva) Jacques 2:16 et que l'un d'entre vous leur dise: Allez en paix, chauffez-vous et vous rassasiez! et que vous ne leur donniez pas ce qui est nécessaire au corps, à quoi cela sert-il?(FR) וְאִישׁ מִכֶּם יֹאמַר אֲלֵיהֶם לְכוּ לְשָׁלוֹם וְחַם־לָכֶם וּשְׂבַעְתֶּם וְלֹא־תִתְּנוּ לְנַפְשָׁם דֵּי־מַחְסֹרָם מַה־יִּתֵּן לָהֶם דְּבַר שְׂפָתָיִם׃ טז James Jas 2:16 and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and be filled," and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?
